Might and Magic is a ten-game series of role playing games for New World Computing. The first game in the series, Might and Magic Book One: The Secret of the Inner Sanctum, was released in 1986. There were several spin offs to the main ten game series, including games like Heroes of Might and Magic and Legends of Might and Magic. The Might and Magic series is considered one of the defining games of early PC role playing games. The majority of the gameplay is staged in a medieval fantasy setting consisting of members of character classes. The player controls a party of player characters, consisting of member of character classes. Gaming layout is presented to the player through a first person perspective. In earlier games in the Might and Magic series, the gaming world featured a three-dimensional environment similar to Doom. Combat style is turn-based, though later games allowed players to conduct combat real time. Might and Magic game worlds are large, providing gamers with several hours of challenging gameplay. The majority of the plot reflects a distinctly fantasy genre with an overarching science fiction background. Gameplay is usually combat-intensive and often involves large groups of enemy creature. Situations encountered throughout the games involve large groups of enemy creatures including giant rats, dragon flights, and zombie hordes. The first five games in the series concern the renegade guardian of the plant Terra, who becomes corrupted and develops a penchant for throwing planets into the Sun. Following games in the Might and Magic series have similar science fiction plots, set in a fictional galaxy as part of an alternative universe. In each game a party of characters fights monsters and completes quests on one of these planets, guaranteeing the player intense combat with demon like archenemies.Games like Might and Magic are shown below.
